Luv it! ;)
“Prior to this launch, we couldn’t support hashtags in right-to-left (RTL) languages. We’ve added this support, as well as showing hashtags in search results.”
I’m late to the party, as usual, but holy shit this is awesome :D
CLOUDBERRY FINN: Bold move, certainly not your conventional localization, but a wiki-tested approach nonetheless, thinking outside the box and - there you have it - a hebrew and an arabic and a persian interface. Throw some ISO-certified proof-editors on top and this is the localization recipe that behooves one to use. Mandarin, Hindi-Urdu, Bengali, Farsi, Punjabi have 1.5 billion speakers just by themselves. Throw in Russian (300 million), Spanish (close to 500 million), Portuguese (300 million plus), already mentioned Arabic and Farsi (another 800 million), French (since that covers parts of Africa) - and there is your lineup for localization of any site. English covers the rest as all Europeans, and most of African and Asian countries speak and write it. Done. Maybe Telugu (80 million), but that should be the cut-off for the size, otherwise Ukrainian is next (60 mil) and that’s a slippery slope. All Ukrainians converse either in Russian or English (actually both). Boutique languages will come as cushy add-ons when revenue starts flowing in (also use wiki - it’s free).
